In the application of fans, axial flow type and centrifugal type are two commonly used types. We need to understand their similarities and differences in order to make the right fan selection according to our operating environment. The following is a brief introduction to these two types of fans. Axial fans are characterized by the axial flow of fluid along the fan blades. For example, electric fans and exhaust fans in families. Centrifugal type uses centrifugal force to eject fluid from the circumferential direction, and then draws fluid from the axial direction of the fan, such as blower and oil suction mask.
Axial flow fan: high flow, small pressure head.
Centrifugal fan: large lift, low flow.
The air flow direction of axial flow fan is perpendicular to the direction of blade rotation, and the air flow direction of centrifugal fan is tangent to the direction of blade rotation. It is important to consider the flow loss and resistance of the system when selecting the fan type. Compared with axial flow fan, the disadvantage of large centrifugal fan is large size. Due to different structures, under the same air volume and pressure, centrifugal fans consume much more power than axial fans, but their noise is relatively low. Centrifugal fans are preferred for advanced hotel buildings. Axial flow is the air flow in the same direction as the wind blade axis.
Centrifugal force: centrifugal force is used for spraying air. The air flow direction is parallel to the axis, which is called axial flow fan (such as fire smoke exhaust fan), and vice versa, which is called centrifugal fan (such as fan to fan coil unit)
The basic difference between the axial flow fan and the centrifugal fan of the cabinet is the mechanical design of the fan:
The diameter of axial flow fan blade is limited to the diameter of coating, while centrifugal fan has no such limitation. The blades can be tilted forward or backward to better meet the requirements of air volume and air pressure. In addition, the cabinet can mute, which has obvious advantages in terms of noise indicators. As the engine speed is low, the engine power is high and the energy consumption is high. If the ventilation system is widely used, try using the centrifugal fan of the cabinet. In a system that is not widely used for fire extinguishing and smoke exhaust, it is more economical and reasonable to use high-temperature axial flow fan!
Compared with axial flow fans, centrifugal fans have the advantages of large air volume and high air pressure (mainly referring to fan efficiency and noise indicators)! The difference between centrifugal fan and axial fan is:
1. The centrifugal fan changes the flow direction of the medium in the air duct, while the axial flow fan does not change the flow direction of the medium in the air duct;
2. It has large volume of air and air pressure, while the second one has small volume of air and air pressure;
3. The installation is more complex, while the second one is easier to install;
4. The motor is generally connected with the fan through the shaft, and the motor of the latter is usually in the fan;
5. It is usually installed at the inlet and outlet of air conditioners, boiler drums, induction fans, etc., The second one is usually installed in the middle of the air duct or in the front of the air duct outlet.
